RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
What is RSS?
Simply put, RSS is short for "Really Simple Syndication". RSS feeds are free content from web sites, including lendingmax.ca, that contain article headlines, summaries and links back to full-text articles from the web site.
What´s the advantage of using RSS?
RSS is an easy way for you to be alerted when content that interests you appears on your favorite web sites. Instead of having to browse those web sites for new articles and features, RSS automatically tells you when something new is posted.
Do all web sites have RSS feeds?
No, not all web sites offer RSS feeds, however, RSS feeds are becoming ever increasingly popular with news feeds coming daily. The majority of Canadian web sites. I’ve seen still do not have RSS feeds, but I suspect it’s just a matter of time, before you'll see them on any sites offering news related content.
How do I know if a web site offers RSS feeds?
The easiest way to see if a web site offers a RSS feed is to look for the following symbols which have become somewhat of an industry standard. I’ve also seen other sites which simply have a text link like “RSS” or “RSS feed”.
So how do I get the RSS feed?
In general, the first thing you need to do is get a thing called a news reader or RSS news reader. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications.
All allow you to display and subscribe to RSS feeds.
Here’s a couple of links that offer a number of RSS readers, also know as aggregators.
Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is to decide what content you want. For example, if you would like the latest news and articles from LendingMax, simply visit the web site and look for the orange or blue RSS or XML buttons. You can also look for a RSS text link.
To obtain the RSS feed, click on the button, or text link. Once the new page opens, copy and paste the link in the address bar of your browser into your RSS reader. Some RSS readers have different ways of subscribing. Check for the correct way to subscribe in your reader.
